Sime Darby
acquires Continental Cars
Sime Darby entered the New Zealand market in 1999, acquiring Continental Car Services (CCS).
Prime Minister Opens Continental Cars Audi
Housed in a world-class Audi hangar – one of the largest in Australasia – New Zealand’s Prime Minister Helen Clark cuts the tape on Continental Cars Audi in Newmarket, Auckland.
Continental Cars Builds Porsche Dealership
The construction of the Porsche Centre at 40 Great South Road in early 2002 took brand representation to a new level.
Volkswagen Dealership Constructed
Continental Cars adds the neighbouring site to extend the Volkswagen dealership – creating a larger area for commercial vehicles, showroom extensions, and improvements.
Sime Darby Motors NZ Acquires Jerry Clayton BMW
Continental Cars continues its growth with the acquisition of Jerry Clayton BMW on Auckland’s North Shore. The branding was changed to Continental Cars BMW in 2017.
Sime Darby Acquires Truck Investments Group
By acquiring Truck Investments Group, Sime Darby adds Truckstops (NZ) Ltd, Hino Distributors (NZ) Ltd, Motor Truck Distributors (NZ) Ltd, and UD Distributors (NZ) Ltd to its New Zealand portfolio.
Mtd Secures Volvo Truck & Bus Rights
Motor Truck Distributors (NZ) Ltd wins the rights to be the sole New Zealand importer and distributor of Volvo Truck and Bus products. Sister company, Truck Stops becomes New Zealand’s Volvo product after-sales supplier, including the sole rights to import original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts.
Grand Opening Of New Ferrari Showroom
Continental Cars Ferrari opens the doors at a brand-new Auckland showroom in Newmarket.
Continental Cars Ferrari Heads South
Continental Cars strengthens its commitment to our South Island customers with the opening of a new Ferrari Service Centre in Christchurch.
Sime Darby Acquires The Gough Group
Sime Darby Commercial adds TWL, Transpecs, Hyster New Zealand, Palfinger NZ, and Engineering and Plant Services to the Group through a conditional sale and purchase agreement with the Gough Group.
Continental Cars Bmw Opens Purpose-built New Dealership
Continental Cars opens the biggest, boldest, and most luxurious BMW site in New Zealand at 45-65 Wairau Road, on Auckland’s North Shore in 2019.
Continental Cars Authorised For Mini Service & Parts
In 2019, Continental Cars acquired Winger BMW and MINI and becomes an authorised MINI Service & Parts dealer.
Truck Stops Acquires New South Island Branch
The acquisition of Truckstops Cromwell in Feb 2020 creates the link to a strategically important part of New Zealand, enabling Truck Stops to offer customers in the Central Otago area the same high standard of customer service excellence as the brand offers nationwide.
Continental Cars Acquires Bmw & Mini Wellington
The acquisition of Winger BMW and MINI, rebranded Continental Cars BMW Wellington and the Wellington MINI Garage, expands Continental Cars retail portfolio.
BMW Motorrad
In October 2020, Sime Darby Motors NZ announces the addition of the New Zealand BMW Motorrad distributorship extending the group’s portfolio to include premium motorcycles.
FASST Used
Sime Darby Motors NZ launches its FASST Used brand and opens the Mount Wellington branch – the first in a network of used car retail outlets.
Continental Motorrad
In July 2023, the group opens its flagship BMW Motorrad dealership, Continental Motorrad on the site of the country’s largest BMW car dealership. This creates a Continental BMW hub on Auckland’s North Shore.
